CJ Logistics, KT&G introduce hydrogen cargo trucks

South Korea's CJ Logistics said on Thursday that it deployed two 11-ton hydrogen-powered cargo trucks in the logistics division of KT&G Corp.

The hydrogen cargo trucks can travel up to 570 km on a full charge. In consideration of the stable supply of hydrogen fuel for these trucks, the two companies have placed the vehicles on the KT&G Daejeon plant route, which has access to the Cheongju hydrogen refueling station.

The trucks are labeled with the phrase, "CJ Logistics and KT&G are taking the lead together in eco-friendly logistics."

CJ Logistics explained that the decision to deploy hydrogen cargo trucks was made in line with both companies' commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) management, particularly in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

This marks the first time hydrogen cargo trucks have been introduced into KT&G's logistics division, and both companies expect it will contribute to reducing greenhouse gases and raising awareness of eco-friendly power sources.

CJ Logistics introduced two 11-ton hydrogen cargo trucks in 2021 for parcel delivery.

Additionally, after entering the gaseous hydrogen transport business in June last year, the company recently launched the country’s first liquid hydrogen transport business, further expanding its presence in the hydrogen logistics sector.
