The number of foreign tourists visiting South Korea has exceeded 1 million for two consecutive months since the outbreak of COVID-19.
According to the "Korea Tourism Statistics for July 2023" released by the Korea Tourism Organization on Wednesday, the number of foreigners who visited South Korea in August reached 1,089,133. It surged by 250.3% year-on-year. Compared to the same month in 2019, this was a 69% recovery.
Japan recorded the highest number of visitors in August (263,000), followed by China (260,000). Taiwan showed the most significant growth among the major markets, with visitors increasing by about 2,146.2% compared to the same period last year.
