South Korea's LG Innotek and SK On have won the Edison Awards in the US for the second consecutive year.
LG Innotek announced on April 21 that it received a silver award in the Commercial Technology category for its ultra-thin optical telephoto zoom camera module for mobile devices.Last year, the company got a bronze for its ultra-thin magnetic component, Nexlim.
The optical continuous zoom module is a compact component that applies the telephoto camera capabilities of professional DSLRs and mirrorless cameras to smartphones.

Last year, the company received a bronze for its NCM9 battery.
Cobalt, often criticized for issues related to labor exploitation and environmental pollution during its mining process, is also expensive.
SK On plans to increase the proportion of nickel and manganese as alternatives to cobalt.
