South Korea’s LG Uplus Corp. has teamed up with Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Robotics Lab to build a communications infrastructure ecosystem at a robot-friendly building where electric vehicles park and charge themselves and robots deliver packages to offices.
LG Uplus on Monday said it signed a deal with Hyundai Motor Group on forming the high-tech ecosystem.
The plan is to set up a one-stop center for robot-friendly buildings featuring related solutions and sector-specific communications services and devise robot-friendly communications standards for such buildings and certification systems.
LG Uplus will set communication rates and design products for a variety of service robots. To quickly secure an early lead on the office service robot market, it will form a communications network and remote control environment that are uninterrupted even when moving between floors.
Ahead of society’s mass adoption of robots, this ecosystem will also designate communications standards for robot-friendly buildings and certification systems.
