BERLIN – South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. is entering the AI-powered business-to-business connectivity platform market with its B2B-specific SmartThings Pro.

During a press conference held on the sidelines of IFA 2024, Europe’s largest consumer electronics trade show, Lim Seong-taek, vice president of Samsung’s device solutions division, said the company’s B2B AI platform business is ready for takeoff.

“Taking the IFA expo as an opportunity, we’re expanding our ‘AI for All’ strategy to the B2B segment, beginning in Korea and then globally,” he said.

At IFA 2024, Samsung unveiled four AI B2B service solutions – AI Apartment, AI Office, AI Store and AI Stay – to maximize AI capabilities in corporate environments, including managing apartments, buildings and other facilities.

In June, Samsung unveiled its new hyper-connected B2B platform, SmartThings Pro, at InfoComm 2024, an audio-visual industry trade show, in Las Vegas.

SmartThings Pro is a corporate version of SmartThings, Samsung’s Internet of Things (IoT) platform that connects multiple devices to create an even smarter home.

BRINGS NEW INTELLIGENCE TO BUSINESS ENVIRONMENTS

Designed specifically for the B2B market, SmartThings Pro is a comprehensive platform that enables seamless integration and management of various devices, solutions and services across enterprise environments.

The Samsung platform supports integrating and managing a wide range of devices and functions, including smart signage, hospitality displays and products such as those for lighting, humidity control, cameras and other IoT devices.

One of the key features of SmartThings Pro is its intuitive dashboard, which allows businesses to monitor the status of connected devices and save energy through AI analysis, facilitating efficient device management.

The unveiling of SmartThings Pro is part of Samsung’s push to expand its AI gadget influence into the enterprise IoT market, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and leadership in the display and connected solutions sector.

As businesses increasingly embrace digital transformation and seek to optimize their operations through IoT technologies, Samsung aims to position itself as a leading B2B AI service provider with its SmartThings Pro.

AI STORE, AI APARTMENT, AI OFFICE, AI STAY

With Samsung’s AI Store solution, small shop operators can reduce power consumption by up to 30% annually, the company said.

Using the next-generation digital signage platform Samsung VXT, which is included in the solution, businesses can also generate ad revenue, according to Samsung.

The AI Apartment solution provides convenient residential services to tenants by linking the apartment’s smart system with home appliances. Through SmartThings Map View, users can check the status of their homes and control devices such as those regulating lighting and heating.

In buildings with the AI Office solution, people can easily gain security access using facial recognition technology.

It helps people use meeting rooms, automatically set up with video conferencing, lighting and air conditioning systems.

AI Stay offers convenient services for hotel guests, such as contactless check-in and check-out. It also allows guests to pre-set their preferred room temperature and ambiance via their smartphone before entering the room.
