South Korea’s HD Hyundai Infracore Co. will be the nation’s first to sell an excavator, a piece of heavy equipment weighing nearly two tons, on a TV home shopping network.
The company on Tuesday said it will sell on July 31 at 8:40 a.m. Korean Standard Time its new 1.7-ton Develon mini-excavator DX17Z-7 on Hyundai Home Shopping’s Plus Shop.
This will be the country’s first transaction of its kind, with precedents abroad difficult to find.
HD Hyundai Infracore said its sale seeks to introduce construction machinery familiar to the public on a TV home shopping channel as well as promote the company’s Develon brand.
The mini-excavator comprises the body; large, medium and small buckets, or basket-shaped equipment that holds soil; a quick coupler, or a detachable link for work tools; and basic tools and filters.
This model won the main prize in the product design category of the 2020 Red Dot Design Awards and is the smallest Develon excavator to be released this year.
The device can raise or lower the overall width of the excavator track to enable entry and exit within a meter, as well as work in a narrow space thanks to a short rotational radius.
A heavy 200-kg counterweight on the rear enables stable operations.
“Demand for mini-excavators is rising especially among those planning to retire to farms and country homes or retirees,” a company source said. “This TV home shopping broadcast will be a good opportunity to promote the technological ability of Develon products.”
