LG Uplus Corp., a South Korean telecom operator of LG Group, said on Tuesday that it had launched a foreign language chat service for its customers, as it seeks to attract more overseas visitors and residents.
The service, available on its website and Facebook Messenger, provides counseling in English, Russian, Chinese and Vietnamese on topics such as product subscription, cancellation and fee payment. The company has hired professional counselors of the respective nationalities for the non-English languages.
LG Uplus said it had conducted more than 1,000 foreign language consultations during a two-month trial period and expected more demand this year as the coronavirus pandemic eases.
The company also plans to open a multilingual website next month with English as the basic language and Chinese, Vietnamese and Russian as additional options.
