Kyung Kye-hyun, head of Samsung's semiconductor business, recently told employees to change the way they work and adopt a more data-based approach to predicting chip demand in different sectors.
“By accelerating the digital transformation of our chip business, we should secure agility in order to swiftly respond to the changing environment,” he said.
With a digital shift underway across industries, data traffic has grown exponentially, leading to significant growth in DRAM chip demand for servers and other devices, he said.

“Without an agile response to such changes, our technology and product competitiveness will drop quickly compared with our rivals,” said Kyung, chief executive of Samsung’s Device Solutions (DS) division.
To underscore Samsung’s determination to embrace data-driven decision-making, he said the DS division is adopting a new keyword — FWD —meaning fast-forward and “Future of Work by DS,” as defined by Samsung.
The company said it will soon establish concrete plans to execute the digital transformation of its semiconductor business.
