South Korea's digital service company CJ OliveNetworks announced on Wednesday that it will collaborate with the US-based Qualcomm Technologies to expand a 5G network business.

Under the partnership, CJ OliveNetworks will proceed to expand its customized 5G network business, known as the e-Um 5G.

The e-Um 5G is a system that directly allocates 5G frequencies to buildings and factories of companies or institutions instead of mobile carriers.

CJ OliveNetworks received a 5G operator license from the Ministry of Science and ICT in August 2022. The company has been developing the e-Um 5G service to support smart logistics, manufacturing, public services, and entertainment industries.

CJ OliveNetworks plans to integrate its network construction knowledge with Qualcomm’s 5G network technology that supports devices such as PDAs, tablets, drones, cameras, and USB dongles.
