Doosan Bobcat ramps up Chennai plant in India

Doosan Bobcat Inc., the construction and agricultural machine manufacturer of South Korea’s Doosan Group, announced on Wednesday that it completed its mini excavator plant in Chennai, India.

Doosan Bobcat completed the 11,300-square-meter mini excavator production facility within the existing Chennai plant site after nine months of construction.

The mini excavators are expected to enter full-scale production starting next year after the installation and stabilization of the production line.

With the completion of this production facility, Doosan Bobcat's Indian subsidiary has added mini excavators to its production lineup, which already includes backhoe loaders and skid-steer loaders.

A backhoe loader is a versatile piece of equipment consisting of a loader at the front and an excavator tool at the back.

Doosan Bobcat's Indian subsidiary plans to sell 8,900 units annually by 2028, including portable power products manufactured at its Bengaluru plant. This is double the sales volume of last year.

Established in 2019, the Chennai plant is Doosan Bobcat's only backhoe loader production base, and since last year, it has also been producing the ultra-compact skid-steer loader S70.
