Hansol Paper Co. announced Thursday that it participated as a strategic investor in a Series A funding worth 2 billion won ($1.5 million) for South Korean startup RIU Packaging Solutions.
Investor-type accelerator Schmidt, Industrial Bank of Korea, and Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (CCEI) Jeonnam joined as co-investors.
Founded in 2017, RIU is a packaging solutions provider and operates two business-to-business (B2B) platforms.
Hansol Paper plans to aggressively shift to environmentally friendly packaging with the investment.
Hansol already has a number of such products, namely Protego, an eco-friendly packaging material that can replace plastic and aluminum.
