Kakao Mobility Corp., South Korea’s largest taxi-hailing app operator, said on Monday that it signed a business agreement with Robotis, a company specializing in autonomous robots, to launch outdoor delivery services using its robot service Bring.
Under the agreement, Kakao Mobility will build a delivery robot integration service model using the BRING ON robot platform.
Robotis will develop robots for indoor and outdoor delivery services.
Kakao Mobility explained that this is the first instance of providing the Bring robot service outdoors, including short-distance deliveries for local shops, and food and parcel deliveries offered previously.
Bring is a product that combines Kakao Mobility's robot open API platform, Bring On, with various delivery robots.
Kakao Mobility has been expanding the scope of Bring services, beginning with the multi-cultural space "Noudit Seoul Forest" in Seoul’s Seongdong district last April and extending to the "Restree Resom" resort in Jecheon, North Chungcheong Province, in August.
