SPC Samlip Corp., a subsidiary of South Korea’s food and bakery giant SPC Group, said on Monday that its rice cake franchise Bizeun developed a new menu for export-only One Bite Ggultteok.
It's scheduled to be exported to the US, Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East in the first half of next year.
On YouTube, the ggultteok cereal was popular among influencers in the US and Europe.
One Bite Ggultteok is made with Korean rice. The dough is beaten 1,000 times to give it a chewy texture. It's colored with natural ingredients, including wormwood, and sweetened with sesame seeds and sugar.
SPC Samlip has expanded its export products, including ho-bbang, yakgwa, steamed rice cakes, and fresh cream buns.
Samlip's yakgwa has gained popularity overseas this year and is now available at Costco in the US and Don Quijote in Japan.
The company has expanded its production lines to meet the demand for steamed rice cakes, which are popular in Vietnam, the Philippines, and the Middle East.
