South Korea's HD Hyundai Infracore Co. said on Monday it partnered with Amogy Inc., a US-based ammonia-powered systems developer, and SK Innovation Co. to develop clean ammonia and hydrogen power generation systems.
The companies plan to commercialize a hydrogen engine power generation system by 2027, using clean hydrogen fuel from ammonia decomposition.
To achieve this, HD Hyundai Infracore will develop a 22-liter hydrogen engine for power generation, while Amogy will create the ammonia cracker equipment needed to decompose ammonia into hydrogen.
The three companies, including SK Innovation, will collaborate to explore commercialization opportunities for the clean ammonia-hydrogen generator solution.
