South Korea's Taihan Cable & Solution Co. said on Friday that it signed a contract worth 840 billion won ($630 million) with Singapore PowerGrid to supply and install a 400 kilovolt (kV) ultra-high voltage power grid.

The contract amount represents approximately 30% of Taihan Cable's consolidated revenue of 2.84 trillion won ($2.13 billion) last year.

Of the two contracts, the NDC 373 project, worth 500 billion won ($375 million), is the largest domestic export of an ultra-high voltage alternating current transmission network to date.

It is also the largest project Taihan Cable has ever secured domestically and internationally.

This mega-project involves constructing a 400 kV ultra-high voltage underground power grid, the highest voltage used in Singapore.

The project is a key initiative by Singapore PowerGrid to stably meet the rapidly increasing power demand driven by the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) and data centers.

Taihan Cable will carry out the project using a full turnkey method, handling everything from power grid design to production, installation, connection and testing.
