LS Eco Energy supplies 2,000 km of overhead power lines to Vietnam

South Korea's LS Eco Energy Ltd. said on Friday that its Vietnamese unit LS-VINA has completed a supply of around 2,000 kilometers of overhead power lines to Vietnam Electricity (EVN).

The cables will be used for major transmission networks linking the northern and central regions of Vietnam, the company said.

Vietnam is currently working to significantly expand its power generation capacity, aiming to increase it from the current 100 gigawatts to 500 gigawatts by 2050.

To support this ambitious growth, the country has earmarked over 20 trillion won ($14.5 billion) for investment in the energy sector by 2030.

The demand for cables alone is expected to reach around 2 trillion won.

"Vietnam is also planning to connect the northern and southern regions with a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) submarine cable project," said Lee Sang-ho, CEO of LS Eco Energy.

"We will seek various business opportunities to strengthen our market position in line with the growth of the power market," he added.
