South Korea's state-run Korea Gas Corp. (KOGAS) said on Friday that its subsidiary, Korea LNG Bunkering, successfully carried out the country’s first simultaneous LNG bunkering operation.
The bunkering vessel, Blue Whale, delivered around 300 tons of LNG to a container ship while it was unloading cargo at Busan New Port’s Pier 5.
The LNG was loaded onto the Blue Whale at KOGAS’s Tongyeong production base before being transferred to the container ship.
This simultaneous operation is considered a crucial advancement in the LNG bunkering business, as it streamlines the process by reducing refueling time and costs, allowing ships to take on fuel while handling other tasks.
