South Korea's Taihan Cable & Solution Co. on Thursday said it won two orders to build high-voltage power grids in Germany.

The deals are with TenneT, a Dutch government-owned transmission system operator that runs power grids in Germany and the Netherlands, with a combined value of about 70 billion won ($57.4 million).

The project is to build a 380-kV ultra-high voltage power grid to meet growing electricity demand in Germany, with 380 kV being the highest voltage in underground A/C power grids used in the country.

This order marks Taihan Cable and Solution's debut on the German market for 380-kV power grids.

The company will supply all high-voltage cables and connection materials and conduct the power grid design, installation, connection and testing on a turnkey basis in a design and construction bundle.

Since opening its UK branch in 2017, Taihan Cable and Solution has targeted the European market.

"With this order opening the door to the German high-voltage power market, we can secure more order opportunities from Germany and its neighboring countries that are making large-scale investments in the spread of new and renewable energy," the company said.
