Italian sports car maker Lamborghini S.p.A. on Tuesday unveiled the Urus SE, its first plug-in hybrid super sport utility vehicle, in South Korea, the world’s seventh-largest market of the luxury SUV with an internal combustible engine.

The Urus SE with an 800 chevaux-vapeur (CV) hybrid powertrain can sprint from zero to 100 kilometers (62 miles) per hour in 3.4 seconds and 200 km/hour in 11.4 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of 312 km/hour, Lamborghini said.

Its twin-turbo 4.0 V8 engine generates 620 CV of power with 800-newton meter (Nm) of driving torque, while an electric powertrain delivers 192 CV and 483 Nm of torque, according to the luxury carmaker.

The plug-in hybrid SUV with a 25.9 kilowatt-hour (kWh) lithium-ion battery can travel more than 60 km in electric vehicle mode. It reduces emissions by 80% compared to the existing versions.

Lamborghini premiered the Urus SE at the Auto China Beijing in April.

AERODYNAMICS

The Italian luxury car maker applied a new design to optimize the plug-in hybrid SUV’s aerodynamic efficiency.

The revised design highlights the dynamics of the vehicle’s form, accentuating its clean and muscular aesthetic, according to the company.

New elements include the new floating bonnet, headlight clusters featuring matrix light-emitting diode (LED) technology, a reviewed bumper and front grill, a new rear diffuser, and a completely redesigned taillamp grille inspired by Lamborghini super sports cars such as the Gallardo, the company said.

The Urus SE is equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen display of the same size, allowing drivers and passengers to use the Lamborghini Infotainment System (LIS).
