Genesystem, a South Korean biotech company said on Tuesday that it will export 20 on-site tuberculosis (TB) diagnostic devices and 6,000 TB test kits to India.
Genesystem was recently selected as a supplier in a public tender issued by the Indian state government.
The diagnostic services included are for both conventional tuberculosis and multidrug-resistant tuberculosis.
The company expressed its expectation for sequential contracts, as bids from other state governments are underway.
According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, India accounts for 26% of the global tuberculosis patient population, with around 200 million tuberculosis diagnoses conducted annually.
