South Korea's LG Energy Solution Ltd. said on Monday it partnered with Qualcomm Technologies to commercialize its new system-on-chip (SoC)-based battery management system (BMS) diagnostic solutions.
LG Energy Solution’s new SoC-based BMS software is available on the Snapdragon Digital Chassis from Qualcomm.
According to LG Energy Solution, by leveraging high-capacity computing power from Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions, the system can collect more data than conventional BMS, allowing for faster and more accurate detection of anomalies such as thermal incidents.
The degradation diagnostics will also be more refined, with compute power increasing over 80 times. This will implement complex algorithms that were not feasible with previous BMS, which could only handle simple calculations, LG Energy Solution explained.
This BMS diagnostic software can operate in real-time without requiring a separate server connection.
It allows for vehicle data, such as driving information, to be analyzed and diagnosed in the vehicle.
