LG Energy Solution tops EV battery quality in China

South Korea's LG Energy Solution Ltd. was selected as the top company for battery quality in China, surpassing Chinese battery manufacturers CATL and BYD.

According to industry sources on Thursday, LG Energy Solution received first place in the battery quality category at the "2024 China Automobile Quality Research" (AQR) awards ceremony held in Beijing last Tuesday.

The event was sponsored by Chinese automotive media outlet Chezhiwang and Car Research Consulting (Beijing), a research firm established in 2017.

This year, the evaluation covered 128 models across 51 brands, and surveys were conducted with end consumers to identify companies excelling in various categories, including battery quality, powertrains, and new energy (pure electric vehicles, hybrids, autonomous driving).

The quality award LG Energy Solution received is given to companies that produce high-quality products meeting actual customer needs, based on scores from surveys regarding quality issues and user dissatisfaction.

BYD and Huawei were among the winners in the powertrain category, while BYD, Geely, NIO, and Chery were listed in the new energy category.
