Hanwha Investment & Securities said on Monday that it acquired a stake in Edinburgh Airport in Scotland.
Edinburgh Airport is jointly owned by Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), a world-renowned infrastructure investment management firm, and VINCI Airports, with GIP holding a 49.99% stake and VINCI Airports holding 50.01%.
Hanwha Investment & Securities acquired 5.4% (around $93.5 million) of the stake owned by GIP.
The company proposed a co-investment opportunity through a fund of funds managed by Platform Partners Asset Management to domestic institutional investors.
According to Hanwha Investment & Securities, airport investments are considered prime infrastructure assets, as they can provide long-term dividend income and capital gains.
Edinburgh Airport is a major airport in Scotland, offering over 150 destinations and 220 flight routes, primarily focused on long-haul routes to Europe and the Americas.
