Hyundai Mobis gets cybersecurity certification in Europe

Hyundai Mobis Co. has become the first Asian auto parts company to receive cybersecurity certification in Europe, which is leading the way in establishing automotive security standards.

Hyundai Mobis announced on Thursday that it held a cybersecurity certification ceremony at its technology center in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, in the presence of officials from the ENX Association.

ENX is an association of European automakers and parts suppliers, including Daimler, Volkswagen, BMW and Bosch, and organizes the Vehicle Cybersecurity Certification (VCS) program.

The certification means that Hyundai Mobis' key products comply with European automotive cybersecurity legislation and that the company has the business procedures and systems in place to do so, ENX explained.

The security certification covers everything from product design to evaluation, quality, production, and post-production management.

Europe has already mandated cybersecurity certification for all vehicles released after July this year.

Since 2020, Hyundai Mobis has established a cybersecurity organization and advanced its automotive cybersecurity management system (CSMS).

“Cybersecurity is becoming increasingly important in the future vehicle industry, which is often referred to as a smartphone on wheels. We will enhance our capabilities to efficiently respond to regulations and standards not only in Europe but also in other regions,” said Hyundai Mobis official.
