The Group said it will deploy 20 art cars collaborating with Korean artists to promote Busan's bid for the 2030 World Expo during the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)'s high-level week starting Monday in New York.
During the UNGA high-level week, which convenes representatives from 193 UN member states to discuss global issues, Hyundai plans to draw worldwide attention to Busan's vision and competitiveness by showcasing these art cars.
To highlight the theme of a "Carbon-Neutral Expo through Eco-friendly Technology" at the Busan Expo, Hyundai selected three electric vehicle (EV) models - IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, and Genesis G80 EV - as art cars.
These vehicles feature graffiti artwork created in collaboration with Korean graffiti artist JAY FLOW, representing key symbols of Busan, such as the Gwangan Bridge and seagulls, along with the slogan "Busan is Ready."
The art cars will be driven around major locations near the UN headquarters and other prominent places in New York, where they will communicate Busan's determination to international dignitaries and tourists. They will also be exhibited at locations like Genesis House in the Meatpacking District and Times Square, cultural and artistic hubs in Manhattan.
Hyundai Motor Group established the "Busan Expo Promotion Task Force" in Aug. 2021, making it the first among Korean conglomerates to form a dedicated organization at the group level to support the Busan Expo.
In addition, the group has been promoting Busan’s bid to host the 2030 World Expo through vehicles featuring the Busan Expo logo and promotional messages, with wrapping activities carried out at events including the Davos Forum in January and the 172nd Bureau international des expositions General Assembly in June this year.
