General Motors (GM) on Friday named Hector Villarreal as the new president of GM Korea.
After more than 40 years with the company, GM Korea President Roberto Rempel will retire at the end of this year.
Mr. Villarreal joined GM Mexico's Ramos Irizpé plant in 1990 as a production project engineer and was promoted to executive in 2008. In 2012, he became vice president of planning and program management for GM Korea.
He was named president of GM Uzbekistan in 2015, general manager of GM Russia in 2017 and president of GM Southeast Asia in 2019.
He will begin his term on Aug 1. "I am honored to lead GM's Korean operations during this important business transition," said Mr. Villarreal.
