LG CNS Co., an information technology service company under South Korean conglomerate LG Group, will lead the digital transformation of FPT Group, a major IT group in Vietnam, a move expected to expedite the expansion of its presence in the fifth-largest economy in Southeast Asia.
LG CNS announced on Tuesday that it signed a memorandum of understanding with FPT Group to forge a comprehensive strategy partnership.
Under the agreement, LG CNS will upgrade the customer relationship management (CRM) system for FPT Telecom, the telecommunications unit of FPT Group, and enhance the company’s customer relations services with artificial intelligence technology.
The Korean firm will also set up a comprehensive network management system for the Vietnamese telecom company.
Based in Hanoi, FPT is one of the major IT business groups in Vietnam, controlling telecommunications, internet and education businesses. It employs about 73,000 workers.
It has been in partnership with LG CNS since 2019.
The two companies will expand their partnership to upgrade the digital infrastructure of other FPT Group companies later and venture into overseas markets together.
BIG DATA AND AI AT THE FOCAL POINT
The Korean company will use big data to enhance the Vietnamese telecom company’s data-based customer management system and marketing campaigns.

It will also use generative AI technology to create marketing content and AI-powered conversational chatbots and AI assistants to enhance FPT Telecom’s customer services.
The active application of AI technology is expected to improve customer experiences significantly with shorter customer wait times, said LG CNS.
LG CNS and FPT plan to launch a taskforce team to expand the Korean company-led digital transformation at other FPT companies.
LG CNS IN OVERSEAS MARKETS
LG CNS, an expert in building public infrastructure with IT technologies, has been actively seeking to advance into overseas markets.
In 2022, it was selected as a design consultant for the construction of a smart city project, worth up to $38 billion, in the new capital of Indonesia.
In November last year, it also signed an MOU with New York City to offer its extensive IT capabilities ranging from AI to digital twinning, the Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain technology for the city’s smart city and e-government projects.
Earlier this month, it was selected as a preferred bidder for a Korean government project to build a unified foundation for a hyper-scale AI system across the government and to bring digital innovation to administrative processes.
In January, LG CNS opened an AI center to provide enterprise AI services, such as generative AI technology, for corporate clients.
