Lunit to supply AI diagnosis solution to Saudi's medical institution

South Korea's medical AI company Lunit announced on Wednesday that it has signed a contract to supply its artificial intelligence (AI) solution for breast cancer diagnosis to hospitals under the Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group (HMG).

HMG is the largest private medical institution in the Middle East, headquartered in Saudi Arabia, and runs more than 20 hospitals across the region, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain.

Over the next three years, Lunit will provide the "Lunit Insight MMG" AI-based breast cancer diagnostic solution to HMG, which will be used for breast cancer screening in Saudi Arabia.

In addition, the company plans to supply the chest X-ray image analysis solution called "Lunit Insight CXR" and the digital breast tomosynthesis image analysis solution "Lunit Insight DBT" to HMG later this year. It also plans to collaborate on the advancement of Lunit's AI technology through HMG's cloud AI platform.

Lunit also revealed its participation in the "SEHA Virtual Hospital" project, led by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as part of the "Vision 2030" initiative. The project aims to introduce digital technology into medical institutions throughout Saudi Arabia. Lunit's involvement in this project was announced on Jul. 5.

"Since participating in the SEHA Virtual Hospital project, we have been expanding our presence in the private sector and accelerating our market strategy in the Middle East," Lunit CEO Suh Beom-Seok said.

He also mentioned the company's recent expansions into Europe and elsewhere, including Australia at the end of last year and Sweden last month, as his company continues to expand national-level cancer screening projects.
