South Korea's low-cost carrier (LCC) Jin Air announced on Wednesday that it received an A in the Sustinvest ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) assessment for the first half of this year.
Sustinvest, an ESG evaluation and advisory agency, assessed the ESG performance of 1,072 domestic listed companies and announced the results last Thursday.
Jin Air received an A three consecutive times in the scale and overall categories, achieving the highest rating among domestic low-cost carriers.
The scale category grades companies based on standards that vary according to the company size, while the overall category evaluates companies based on absolute standards regardless of size.
Jin Air has engaged in environmental protection activities, such as adopting pet beaches and recycling uniform jeans, as well as community activities, including kimchi-making for charity and volunteering at children's rehabilitation hospitals.
In 2022, Jin Air established an ESG committee and has been operating an ESG office as a dedicated organization.
