T'way Air completes IOSA recertification process

South Korea's low-cost carrier T'way Air Co. said on Monday that it has completed the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) recertification from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), proving its safety and excellence at an international level.

IOSA is a certification system created and run by IATA to establish international standards for airline safety operations and quality assurance control systems.

In Oct. 2014, T'way obtained its first certification for IOSA's ISM (IOSA Standards Manual) Edition 8th.

This year's ISM Edition 14th certification is the sixth one the company secured. IOSA requires renewal every two years, and each review is more stringent than previously.

For the latest certification, T'way held a detailed on-site inspection in August last year on more than 900 items in eight categories, including safety management, aviation security, flight, maintenance, cabin, flight management, transport, and cargo.

The airliner met all evaluation criteria across all fields and completed certification registration on Jan. 11.

"We are establishing and running a thorough safety management system in all areas to ensure aviation safety reliability comparable to international standards," said an official of T'way Air.

"We will continue to inspect and improve safety operations and quality assurance to provide safer and more comfortable flights," he added.
