South Korea's Mirae Asset Securities Co. said on Monday that it won the international personal information standard ISO 27701 certification after undergoing an audit by the internationally accredited registrar and classification society DNV.

Mirae Asset Securities explained that the ISO 27701 certification is the international standard in the field of personal information protection established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) to set global privacy protection standards.

To obtain this certification, a company must meet 49 certification criteria across eight areas of the privacy lifecycle, including personal data collection, processing, and ensuring the rights of data subjects.

Mirae Asset Securities has accelerated its innovation in financial services centered around the use of data such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data.

The company is strengthening its privacy management system to prepare for the growing trend of enhanced global compliance regulations in various countries, leading to the acquisition of this certification.
