LG Electronics Inc. announced on Tuesday that it has unveiled a sea lion-themed video for its “The LG Endangered Species Series” campaign on the Times Square billboard in New York City.

The campaign is an effort to raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity and global warming by displaying beautiful and dynamic images of animals threatened with extinction due to climate change on the Times Square billboard.

LG Electronics previously presented endangered animal campaign videos in Times Square in April (snow leopard) and July (bald eagle).

The video, which was released to coincide with New York Climate Week, conveyed the seriousness of marine pollution by showing a three-dimensional image of a sea lion suffering from habitat destruction and food shortages due to marine debris and global warming.

Sea lions are listed as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN), and their population is believed to have declined by more than 60% over the past 40 years.

LG Electronics is committed to protecting biodiversity around the world to help build a better life for all.

In Spain, the company is leading the way in protecting the oceans with its Smart Green Seas campaign, which plants seaweed in the Mediterranean Sea, which is effective in absorbing carbon, and is also planting trees in Spain, Saudi Arabia, India and Indonesia.

“We will continue our campaigns to protect endangered animals and spread awareness of the seriousness of climate change and the importance of preserving biodiversity to our customers around the world,” said Jung Kyu-hwang Chung, head of LG Electronics’ North American operations.
