South Korea's SK Telecom Co. said on Monday it offers a passkey system, enabling password-free login and user authentication, via a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model for companies.

Passkey, a global standard technology, allows authentication and login using public key cryptography rather than passwords.

Users can log in using methods such as biometric authentication or PIN codes supported by their devices, without the need to set or remember a password.

The technology is compatible across various platforms, including PCs, smartphones, and apps.

Last year, SK Telecom developed the Passkey authentication system and integrated it into its identity verification service app, PASS.

Since then, the company has prepared to offer the system to other firms through a SaaS model, facilitating easier adoption of Passkey.

Businesses interested in implementing Passkey can access guides and application programming interfaces (APIs) available on SK Telecom's Passkey webpage to develop and test the system.

SK Telecom said that because Passkey does not involve passwords, it eliminates the risk of password theft or phishing attacks via fake sites, ensuring the security of personal information and assets.
