South Korea's LG Uplus Corp. announced plans to partner with SAMG Entertainment and HighZium Studio Co. to create Korean-style robot content, aiming for a global OTT release in 2026.

The companies will collaborate on a live-action robot project to produce a K-robot drama, with LG Uplus planning to establish a special-purpose company (SPC) in partnership with SAMG Entertainment and HighZium Studio.

The venture will leverage each company’s strengths in business, production, investment, and distribution to tackle the longstanding goal of the domestic entertainment industry: a live-action robot project.

LG Uplus will utilize its content-specialized studio STUDIO X+U to participate in the joint planning and production of intellectual property (IP).

The company will also manage the entire project, including investment and distribution.

SAMG Entertainment will bring its IP business expertise from successful global ventures such as Catch! Teenieping: Fairies of Emotion, Miniforce, and Metal Cardbot.

HighZium Studio will contribute its strategies by producing popular dramas like Itaewon Class, Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area, and The Sound of Magic.

Given the global popularity of robot IP, the three companies aim to create new value by sharing their accumulated IP knowledge across different fields.

The K-robot live-action drama, tentatively titled K-TRON, is scheduled for a global online video service (OTT) release in 2026.
