South Korea's HD Hyundai XiteSolution announced on Monday that it deployed its four 5-ton hydrogen forklifts in Korea Zinc Inc.'s Onsan Refinery and will be used to gather field data on performance and durability.

This is the country's largest hydrogen forklifts at a logistics site.

The 5-ton hydrogen forklift has over 1.7 times the loading capacity compared to the 3-ton products from other domestic manufacturers, making it suitable for sites like ports and logistics centers where heavy items need to be transported.

The hydrogen fuel cell power pack used in the forklift, with a capacity of 50kW, can be fully charged in 5 minutes and operate for 5 hours.

This is more convenient compared to electric battery forklifts, which take 4-6 hours to charge, and it can function in temperatures ranging from -30°C to 60°C.

HD Hyundai XiteSolution aims to lead the market with large hydrogen forklifts, anticipating that the hydrogen forklift market will grow faster than the general hydrogen vehicle market.

The company referenced research from Verified Market Research, which valued the global hydrogen fuel cell forklift market at $377 million in 2023 and expects it to reach $2.255 billion by 2030.
