South Korea’s CJ Logistics said on Wednesday that it obtained the certification CEIV lithium battery, or the Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in lithium battery Logistics, that verifies expertise and excellence in secondary battery transportation by air.

CEIV Lithium Battery is a global certification authorized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

It requires a rigorous assessment of procedures, facilities, equipment, and staff training to ensure safe transportation.

Stringent management is crucial for lithium battery transport due to fire and explosion risks.

The certification signifies CJ Logistics' expertise in handling these batteries with specialized protocols, infrastructure, and qualified personnel.

The company has invested in IATA training for its staff and developed dedicated handling procedures to enhance safety during lithium battery logistics.

CJ Logistics is pursuing logistics contracts from battery manufacturers, aiming to solidify its position as a leader in the global lithium battery transport market.

This focus aligns with the company's ambitions in the fast-growing battery sector.

Last year, CJ Logistics secured a 300 billion won ($228 million) project to transport materials and equipment for three battery plant constructions in the US by South Korean companies.
