South Korea's Taihan Cable & Solution Co. announced on Thursday that it has completed the development of a 154-kilovolt (kV) ultra-high-voltage (UHV) submarine cable system and obtained international certification.

The 154-kV submarine cable is mainly used in the external networks that connect offshore wind power complexes with the mainland power grid.

Various domestic offshore wind power projects, including the Yeonggwang Nakwol Offshore Wind Power project, have designed their external networks using 154-kV cables.

These UHV cables are also used to connect power grids between continents, providing numerous opportunities for business participation.

Taihan Cable got certification from the Netherlands-based accredited testing agency KEMA Labs, securing opportunities to participate in various domestic and overseas submarine cable projects.

The company plans to produce 154-kV and other high-voltage submarine cables at its submarine cable Plant 1, scheduled to be completed in 2025.
