LG Electronics Inc. has introduced an artificial intelligence technology for early detection of anomalies in its commercial air conditioning systems, the South Korean home appliance giant said on Tuesday.
The company’s Becon Cloud, an energy usage monitoring and control platform, uses data-driven AI solutions to predict and detect air conditioner failures. The anomaly detection is highly accurate as it analyzes each segment of the device such as the fan, motor, compressor, refrigerant, sensor and drainage pump, LG said.
Once the AI solutions detect anomalies, LG’s home appliance maintenance arm Hi-M.Solutek will notify customers of possible failures and have its engineers promptly correct the problems.
LG expects this will reduce the number of major failures during the peak summer and winter seasons, particularly for hospitals, hotels and factories that use cooling and heating systems year-round.
