Samsung Electronics Co. announced on Tuesday that its fore-front R&D center Samsung Research America (SRA) has joined Princeton University’s NextG Initiative as a corporate member to co-develop 6G wireless and networking systems.

The NextG Initiative was formed last year to accelerate the adoption of new technologies and foster academic-industry collaborations. The initiative draws on Princeton’s expertise across a range of research areas, including cloud and edge networks, intelligent sensing, terahertz and sub-terahertz communication, security and privacy, network resilience, and a host of applications from health care to transportation to defense.

The program’s inaugural members include SRA, American Tower, Crown Castle, Ericsson, Intel, InterDigital, MediaTek, Nokia Bell Labs, Qualcomm Technologies, and Vodafone.

This initiative recently introduced a corporate affiliates program to foster technological progress and encourage collaboration among academia, industry leaders, and policymakers.
