South Korea's Naver Cloud, the cloud computing unit of Naver Corp., and NHN Cloud Corp., announced on Monday that they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for a joint AI venture at the NHN headquarters in Pangyo, Gyeonggi Province.

The two companies plan to share their technological expertise, infrastructure, and experience to collaborate on developing a multi-cloud service using HyperCLOVA X technology.

They will also cooperate on large-scale language model (LLM) projects tailored for the public and education sectors, and expand and support the market for joint development services.

Naver Cloud is building an AI platform centered around HyperCLOVA X. Meanwhile, NHN Cloud plans to leverage its high-performance infrastructure and services, including Korea's first administrative network-linked cloud, to contribute to the expansion of the AI ecosystem.

The latest agreement aims to advance initiatives in the private sector within the fiercely competitive field of AI, focusing on the preemptive development of administrative LLM based on specialized AI infrastructure and expanding the large-scale AI ecosystem.
