South Korea's leading online portal Naver Corp. and the state-run National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) will collaborate to leverage advanced artificial intelligence (AI) to improve public health services.

Naver, Naver Cloud, and on Monday signed a business agreement to transform crucial public services and enhance the operational efficiency of the NHIS using Naver’s HyperCLOVA X, a large language model (LLM) based on generative artificial intelligence (GenAI).

The agreement primarily targets the improvement of access to health information and statistical data provided by the NHIS, to advance national health standards and quality of life.

A key aspect of this partnership involves integrating NHIS's data with HyperClova X to create user-friendly public services and improve internal productivity at NHIS.

The collaboration will also explore public service innovations using Naver Cloud’s AI welfare check service, Clova Care Call.

This GenAI-based service will facilitate natural conversation-based welfare checks, designed to streamline caregiving processes and enhance user satisfaction.

Naver will supply easier access to health and statistical information of NHIS.

The services include displaying NHIS health statistics analysis for specific diseases in Naver's search results and providing various health-related content through the Naver app's Health Board, such as guidelines for daily self-health management.
