Foreign visitors to S.Korea in July surpass 1 mn post-COVID-19

The number of foreign tourists visiting South Korea has exceeded 1 million in a month for the first time since the outbreak of COVID-19.

According to the "Korea Tourism Statistics for July 2023" released by the Korea Tourism Organization on Wednesday, the number of foreigners who visited South Korea in July reached 1,032,188, surpassing 1 million for the first time since the onset of the pandemic.

Compared to the same month in 2019, this was a 71% recovery. The total number of visitors in the first half of the year was 5.46 million, which is 55% of the level during the same period in 2019.

China recorded the highest number of visitors in July (224,805), followed by Japan (211,468), the US (104,823), and Taiwan (103,566). Taiwan showed the most significant growth among the major markets, with visitors increasing by about 58 times compared to the same period last year.
