South Korea's LS Cable & System announced Wednesday that it has brought to market the world's thinnest LAN cable with a 6 mm outer diameter, capable of transmitting up to 10-gigabyte of data (CAT.6A).

The cutting-edge cable's diameter is approximately 20% thinner than the standard 7.2 mm product, which facilitates over 20% extra cable installations within the confines of buildings' walls and ceilings, in turn, amplifying data transmission capabilities.

LS Cable has plans to aggressively market this novel offering in areas characterized by large amounts of data consumption such as internet data centers, banking establishments, securities firms, semiconductor plants, and smart buildings.

The company also has its sights set on the burgeoning LAN cable market in the US, representing more than 40% of the global market, with plans to bolster its presence there. Rapid expansion in the US market is driven by considerable investments from large tech corporations in areas such as cloud services, the metaverse, big data, and new plant infrastructure.
