Samsung Electronics Co. revealed on Thursday its new operating system, One UI Watch 5, for its Galaxy Watch series. The updated OS includes improved sleep management and fitness features, as well as upgraded safety functions for users.

The sleep management feature offers users various tips for achieving better sleep, such as avoiding caffeine intake six hours before bedtime, and provides insights on the quality and duration of their previous night's sleep.

Additionally, the fitness function delivers personalized exercise guidance based on users' heart rate zones. In emergency situations, pressing the watch's home button five times in succession and confirming the call connects the user to emergency services.

One UI Watch 5 will be available for Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 4 series users through a beta program in the Samsung Members app later this month. Samsung intends to officially integrate this operating system into its new Galaxy Watch products launching in the second half of the year.

"With the new One UI Watch 5 operating system, we anticipate Galaxy Watch users will experience improved sleep quality and enjoy a healthier, more vibrant lifestyle," said Hon Pak, head of Samsung Electronics' MX business division's digital health team.
