South Korean companies looking to export electric vehicle chargers to the United States can now receive local certification more conveniently within Korea.

The Korea Testing Certification Institute (KTC) announced on Friday that it has signed a business agreement with UL Solutions, a US-based certification agency in Washington, DC, to support the export of electric vehicle chargers from Korean manufacturers to North America.

Through this agreement, Korean electric vehicle charger manufacturers can obtain Energy Star certification for local exports through the Korea Testing Certification Institute without sending their products to the US certification body.

The institute expects the certification process to be shortened by more than a month, reducing the certification cost by almost 40% compared to the previous method, which required logistics costs of about 18 million won ($13,400) to send items to the US for certification.
