SK Telecom Co. announced on Thursday its partnership with American voice technology company, Pindrop, to introduce an artificial intelligence voice authentication service to its AI contact center (AICC).

Once users have completed the initial voice registration process at the customer center, their unique voice can be identified through a simple conversation with the counselor, completing personal authentication.

SK Telecom has reported a 98% voice recognition rate with this technology, ensuring that it cannot be authenticated with a recorded or imitated voice. The cloud-based solution allows for quick and reliable application of the service.

The two companies plan to expand this service to other devices that require personal authentication, such as access control, biometric security authentication, online video service set-top boxes and kiosks.

Previously, SK Telecom had trialed Pindrop's voice authentication technology in its customer center from 2021, completing evaluations from customers and counselors to ensure the technology's reliability.

Lee Gyu-sik, in charge of SK Telecom's enterprise AI business, stated that they would continue working with domestic and foreign partners to introduce excellent enterprise AI technology to the market.
