South Korea's Hanwha Hotels & Resorts Co., Ltd. said on Wednesday that it has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Lodgis Hospitality Holdings to secure an overseas hotel and resort chain network.

Lodgis oversees 11 wellness-concept hotels and resorts in Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia.

Most notably, the five-star Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi is famous for being the venue for the North Korea-United States summit between former US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Hanwha Hotels & Resorts and Lodgis Holdings plan to discuss the possibility of developing complex resorts with hotels in Asia in the future, as well as investment and consignment operations. Depending on the outcome of the negotiation, Hanwha members may be able to receive a variety of benefits such as discounts at Lodgis properties.

Hanwha Resorts is also promoting partnerships with Onward Beach Resort and LeoPalace Resort located in Guam. After the second quarter of this year, Hanwha members will be able to receive up to 30% discount compared to the listed price on the official website.
