Caliverse, KT Alpha join hands to add K-pop to metaverse

Caliverse, a subsidiary of Lotte Data Communication, said on Thursday that it has signed an agreement to expand the range of immersive metaverse content with KT Alpha, a company specializing in the investment and distribution of digital content.
KT Alpha is South Korea's largest copyright holder with over 20,000 video contents including movies, animations, and overseas dramas. It supplies an immense amount of contents to over-the-top video service platforms such as Netflix, Coupang, Wavve, Tving, and Watcha, as well as to IPTV and cable TV channels.
Caliverse is implementing a realistic metaverse platform as if the viewer is actually experiencing it even if she is not there in person through live-action filming, virtual reality melding, 3D real-time rendering, and patented deep interactive technologies.
With this agreement, Caliverse plans to supply KT Alpha's video content within its metaverse platform.
"We expect to be able to draw active partnerships with companies overseas by utilizing KT Alpha's various VR contents well ahead of the full-scale global launch of metaverse platforms," said Kim Dong-gyu, CEO of Caliverse.
