LG Uplus Corp. announced on Sunday it has obtained ISO 37301 certification for its compliance management system, marking a first among the three South Korean mobile telecom companies.

LG Uplus's international certification in compliance comes on the heels of earlier certifications in information security (ISO 27001), environmental management (ISO 14001) and safety and health (ISO 45001).

The certification comes after an examination by the British Standards Institution, a global certifying body. LG Uplus was recognized for having a compliance management system in place in eight areas: telecom business, fair trade, personal information protection, health and safety, labor and human resources, anti-corruption, intellectual property rights and corporate governance.

This year, LG Uplus has reinforced its compliance management system through activities such as improving risk management through the "risk identification evaluation table," compliance inspection through the compliance support system, and enhancing educational effectiveness through online compliance training and testing.

The evaluation table specifies laws and regulations that can be applied to each department, such as the Telecommunications Business Act, Personal Information Protection Act, Fair Trade Act, and Occupational Safety and Health Act, so that company employees can check compliance obligations and manage risk more conveniently.
