South Korea's IT service management firm CJ OliveNetworks Co. Ltd. said on Wednesday that it has developed a real-time database (RTDB), a data management solution that analyzes factory big data in real time.

RTDB supports factory optimization by monitoring, collecting, and analyzing analog data generated from the factory and provides AI model-based data for predictive maintenance.

Facility data, which is the most common time series data expressed in terms of a time function, is collected billions of times per day depending on the size of the factory.

Since the data is collected in real time regardless of whether the human operator is present, it is considered one of the main causes of slowing down the system.

The high cost of RTDB solutions often keeps small- and medium-sized manufacturers from adopting RTDB in their digitization effort.

CJ OliveNetworks has developed a price-competitive RTDB to lower the entry barriers for these SMEs.

The company plans to apply RTDB to CJ CheilJedang's Busan plant and premium rice liquor brand Hwayo's Icheon works this month.

"In order to upgrade to an AI and big data-based intelligent factory, RTDB solutions are essential. It will bring about innovation to the domestic manufacturing industry with overwhelming advantages such as lightning-quick analysis, developer convenience, and low price to increase data literacy in the field," said Kim Dae-hwan, AI factory team head at CJ OliveNetworks.
